So, stop waiting until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until winter, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink.... there is no better time than right now to be happy.

Just another visit So there I was, stepping into the Firehouse Tavern, a place where the walls are decked out in enough firehouse and military memorabilia to make you feel like you've just enlisted or joined the local engine company. This isn't your average bar - this is a blue-collar, no-nonsense, get-yourself-a-cold-one kind of joint, and I loved every second of it. I came for a quick bite, but what I got was a full-on taste-bud rescue operation. I ordered the chicken wrap with their hottest sauce, and let me tell you, this thing was like a controlled burn--just enough heat to make you sweat, but so delicious you keep coming back for more. By the time I was done, I was convinced that their sauce is the kind of stuff that could make a fireman drop his hose just to grab a bite. But here's the kicker: It was so good I couldn't stop at just one. I ended up ordering a whole spread to go, like I was trying to feed an entire battalion. When I walked out with enough food to feed my friends (and probably their friends), I felt like I was bringing back supplies after a successful mission. If you're into great food, cool vibes, and a place that honors our heroes, Firehouse Tavern is the spot. Just be prepared to leave with a full stomach, a fiery mouth, and maybe a to-go order that could feed a small army.

Today's weather was glorious and this was our first opportunity to "dine outside" on the patio. We were at the Firehouse Tavern - right on the square in Sunbury on a beautiful afternoon. The service was excellent - especially since we were the only ones outside on the patio. Our waitress brought our menus quickly and took our beverage orders - she returned with the beverages pretty quickly and took our orders. We both had the pork tenderloin sandwich - my wife had hers with the house chips that come standard and I ugraded to the hand-cut fries. BOTH the chips and the fries were excellent. When ordering a pork tenderloin, you never know if it will be a traditional (Indiana) style tenderloin that has been pounded very thin and is normally twice the size of the bun or if its going to be a thicker, breaded tenderloin. In this case, it was the thicker, breaded and fried pork tenderloin. AND - it was delicious. I'm usually partial to the more traditional (wide and thin) version but this preparation was EXCELLENT. The pork was moist and was topped with BBQ sauce, an onion ring, and cheddar cheese. Exceptional preparation. I will definitely be back to this restaurant.
